afi Launches New Hybrid Transmission Products

To help ease the transition from analog to IP surveillance systems for installers and end users, American Fibertek Inc. (afi) is highlighting a number of new hybrid fiber transmission products at ISC West (booth #10072). Available in a variety of configurations, these hybrid products deliver flexibility in terms of inputs, transmission channels and type, and more.

"The transition from analog surveillance systems to IP can be daunting, particularly when faced with the significant cost of new cameras and edge devices, and infrastructure," said Jack Fernandes, President and CEO of afi. "Our new hybrid fiber transmission products provide an alternative to the expensive rip-and-replace option, allowing end users to make the transition to IP gradually as their budget allows."

The 91PXXXXE-SL Series Singlemode Transceiver offers one-way digital broadcast quality video, and bi-directional audio, two 10/100 Base-TX connections, Ethernet capability and up to four multi-protocol data and/or contact closures in one singlemode optical fiber.

The 92P5E-SL Series Analog/IP Hybrid Transmission System transmits two channels of high-quality 10-bit digitized video, one channel of bi-directional MPD multi-protocol RS data and two ports of 10/100 Base-T Ethernet on one singlemode optical fiber using WDM technology. For additional flexibility, audio channels may also be substituted for the data or contact channels. The system's Ethernet ports feature auto negotiation to automatically configure the 92P5E-SL for the correct speed, and auto MDI/MDIX operation eliminates the potential need for crossover cables.

The 91P3335E-SL Series Transceiver provides one-way digital video (high-quality 10-bit), two 10/100 Base-TX ports, Ethernet capability, three RS232 data ports and one RS485 port on one singlemode optical fiber. The 91P3335-SL is completely transparent, with auto negotiation features that automatically configure the unit for the correct Base-TX speed, as well as auto MDI/MDIX operation to eliminate the need for crossover cables.
