Mission 500 and Axis Communications Tee Off for Children in Need

Mission 500, a non-profit initiative focusing on the security industry and dedicated to serving the needs of children and communities in crisis, raised $5,000 at the Second Annual Axis Golf Tournament in Brampton, Ontario.

The 140 attendees at the July 16 event, held at the Lionhead Golf Club & Conference Centre, were given numerous options to help Mission 500, which was chosen as the beneficiary earlier this year by the Axis team. Attendees could donate directly, purchase golf packets and participate in the silent auction.

At the end of the day George Fletcher, Mission 500 Advisor Board Member, spoke to attendees at the cocktail and dinner portion of the event. “We are very grateful to Axis for this invaluable opportunity to partner and address child poverty in Canada,” said Fletcher. “Axis has a phenomenal track record of supporting our efforts since our inception. They are an outstanding corporate citizen – many of their leaders and staff volunteer to support Mission 500."

Robert Moore, the Canadian Country Manager for Axis Communications who is also an active volunteer for the Mission 500 Canada Committee, was happy to involve Mission 500 at this event. “One of Axis’ core values is ‘Act as One’, and corporate social responsibility is an important and powerful way to embody this value,” said Moore. “We are humbled to continue working with Mission 500 to support their great work.”

Axis chose the Living Rock Breakfast Program in Hamilton, CA, the only open access program in Hamilton, as the benefitting program. The program provides hot, nutritious breakfasts for children and young adults in need. The Living Rock Breakfast Program is sponsored by Living Rock Ministries, an organization which supports 20,000 youths annually and is often a first point of contact with street involved youth.

Now in its eighth year, Mission 500 has worked to focus security industry efforts to aid children through World Vision. As Mission 500’s parent entity, World Vision  is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping children, families and their communities worldwide by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice. World Vision and Mission 500 work in partnership in North America and around the world.

World Vision is the largest child-focused international development charity in Canada.  Approximately 500,000 children around the world are sponsored through the donations of generous Canadians. This represents about 10 percent of the four million children sponsored globally through the World Vision partnership.
