AMAG Technology's Symmetry Security Management System Integrates with ASSA ABLOY IP-enabled Locks

AMAG Technology announces the integration of their Symmetry Access Control and Video Management system with ASSA ABLOY’s IP-enabled locks. The integration allows the expansion of Symmetry to doors not normally included in a traditional security system via a facility’s network infrastructure.

ASSA ABLOY’s IP-enabled offering includes a broad range of WiFi and Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) locks from ASSA ABLOY Group brands CORBIN RUSSWIN and SARGENT. IP-enabled locks lower the total cost of ownership by using existing or planned network infrastructure to reduce installation time and material costs. The WiFi locks connect to Symmetry through a facility’s 802.11b/g/n WiFi network, and the IEEE 802.3af compliant Power over Ethernet (PoE) locks connect to Symmetry through the Local Area Network (LAN) utilizing a single Ethernet cable for both power and data.

“Customers can easily and affordably expand their Symmetry system to include those extra doors that often are not addressed in an original security design due to budget constraints,” said AMAG Technology, Vice President of Product Marketing, David Ella. “The Symmetry and ASSA ABLOY IP lock integration provides an effective alternative for facilities of all types and sizes.”

"The integration of ASSA ABLOY IP-enabled locks with AMAG's Symmetry platform allows facilities to leverage their IT infrastructure to bring electronic access control deeper into the building," said Martin Huddart, president, Access and Egress Hardware Group, ASSA ABLOY Americas.  "We are excited to expand our partnership with AMAG to offer customers even greater flexibility to maximize their security coverage."

The integration will be available with Symmetry v8.1, due out in early 2016. All versions of Symmetry currently integrate with ASSA ABLOY Aperio wireless lock technology.
