On the Heels of a Hurricane

Only a week ago, Topical Storm Hermine made landfall in Florida. I think we're pretty safe attending ASIS in Orlando, but Florida is always in the crosshairs. A "hurricane" in its own right will hit Orlando next week when ASIS touches down.

These are exciting times in the security business. Years ago, maybe even two decades ago, ASIS was not a prominently placed product show. That is not the case anymore. Technology moves so quickly that new products and product updates are as much a part of ASIS as the many listen and learn sessions.

Security Today, our online franchise, produces five electronic newsletters prior to, during and after the tradeshow. In today's Security Today Enews, you will find a list of Top 10 booths to visit. Let me tell you how this works.

During each tradeshow we dispatch our Matt Holden to do a Live From … event. This is reporting onsite in realtime. Matt is very good at this, and makes sure his/our readers know what is going on. We have five sponsors for this live event. We have decided that these five exhibitors should be part of our Top 10, and it would be worth your while to visit with Salient Systems, Open Options, Protection 1, Alert Enterprises and Vicon Industries.

Each of the five have new products, technology updates and staff with a wealth of knowledge to share with you.

The other five of the Top 10 are determined as our editorial team sits in the conference room, shares a pizza or two and kicks around the press releases we have received prior to ASIS. We get a bunch of them, and by no means is our Top 10 list the official word. Every booth at ASIS will be worth your time.

The other five are Salto, HES/ASSA ABLOY, Arecont Vision, Sentry 360 and Total Recall. Good advise from me to you is take a few moments and visit each of these booths. You will find some pretty incredible technology, and once again, team members who can enlighten you about their newest technology.

A story prepared by our Sydny Shepard offers a little bit more insight what you will find at each booth. Hope to see you soon at ASIS. Grab me, let's talk; I'd like to know what you're thinking.
