Manhunt Underway for Suspect in Berlin Attack

German police remain on the lookout for the suspect in the Berlin Christmas market crash that left 12 people dead and more than 40 more injured.

Originally, police had arrested a suspicious person at the scene of the crime on Monday, December 19, but later released that person due to lack of evidence.

Police found papers in the truck that belonged to an “Anis Amri” and police believe this person is the driver of the vehicle at the time it plowed into crowds at the Christmas market.

Germany’s Interior Ministry has described Amri as a 21-year-old Tunisian man. According to a wanted poster for the man, police believe that he may go by six different names and could be of three different nationalities.

Investigators believe the suspect tried to seek asylum, but his application was turned down because he didn’t possess the correct papers. Police say Amir was arrested in Germany in August with forged papers, but was later released by a judge.
