2 Dead in Murder-Suicide at North Lake College

A man took his own life after shooting and killing a woman at North Lake College in Irving, Texas.

A man took his own life Wednesday, May 5, after shooting and killing a woman at North Lake College in Irving, Texas.

The event was called in as an active shooter on campus, sending students running out of the building and others huddled into the corners of dark classrooms.

The school tweeted out that there was an active threat on campus as Irving PD confirmed that shots had been fired inside of Building C on the campus. Alerts from the school asked students to perform lock down actions and told students not on campus to stay away from the school buildings.

A little over an hour after shots rang out inside the college, police were able to confirm that they had found two deceased bodies inside the building. One was a female victim, the other was the suspected shooter matching the description they had given out earlier, a white male in an orange tank top with a grey stripe with brown buzz cut hair. He had been killed from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police continued to evacuate the campus as police searched the campus inch-by-inch for explosives out of an abundance of caution. North Lake College tweeted that the school would be closed the remained of the day and the next day.
