Where’s the Beef?

Day two of 2019 GSX is in the books from the tradeshow floor. I certainly didn't have to dodge anyone to get from one side of the house to the other. Where are the attendees?
I've been around long enough to remember when this was "the show" in the industry.
By afternoon yesterday, attendee number had fallen off significantly, leaving me to wonder where has everyone gone?
I feel bad for exhibitors who waited for someone to come to their booth. I felt fortunate to be able to talk to anyone at any time.
For starters, don't put interview spaces at the edge of the show floor with an active Q&A. It is distracting.
Maybe two days for this show is enough, on a Wednesday and Thursday.
One of my most interesting booth visits yesterday was with Altronix Kirby Han. Got to give it to Altronix engineers, who are always findings ways to improve power delivery.
Han described power for an access control system with 4PPoE and 802.3bt with the Tango product.
My job allows me to seek contributed editorial for upcoming issues so I had a terrific chat with Ken Francis of Eagle Eye. He tells me that Eagle Eye will be focusing its efforts on education in 2029. I'm looking forward to working with Francis and his team next year.
Also had a terrific meeting with the team at Allied Universal. I'm looking forward to sharing editorial material from this team next year. They will be sharing insight with access control, guard services and event security.
Looking forward to today's short day. I'm hoping GSX will tweak its annual show so it can begin to grow and prosper. It is an awesome opportunity for manufacturers to showcase new products and solutions. See you next year in Atlanta.
