Turning Existing Readers into Touchless Access in 30-Seconds

While many companies are focusing on clean-desk policies, one- way corridors, and fewer seats in conference rooms, these habits alone won’t be enough to increase safety and security in the “new workplace.” To meet the new standards for workplace safety, organizations will need to adopt technology in order to create a high-functioning, healthier, and safe space for their employees and visitors. Enter touchless technology.

Once a luxury, now a necessity for the new workplace; hands-free, frictionless, contactless or touchless — whatever you want to call it, it’s not just a convenience factor anymore.

Avoiding unnecessary contact with any potentially contaminated surfaces during these times is critical. With employees returning to the workplace and visitors coming and going (cleaners, contractors and guests to name a few), that’s up to hundreds of people per day who could be touching the same reader to get access.

With touchless mobile access, companies can create a convenient, reliable and safe environment that instills confidence in employees, tenants and visitors. Touchless access using virtual credentials stored in a mobile phone or wearable can activate boom gates, turnstiles, doors, elevators and more from a configurable distance, unlike keycards that often require direct contact to work. Without removing your phone from your pocket, touchless access via Bluetooth provides hands-free, barrier-free and user-friendly authentication that guarantees secure entry, minimizes high-frequency touchpoints and reduces the spread of germs.

Safetrust has just introduced its SABRE MODULE, which brings Touchless Mobile Access and Wi-Fi options to the millions of HID® iCLASS SE® and multiCLASS SE® readers deployed today. The 30-second plug-in makes the SABRE MODULE the fastest way to enable touchless mobile access at the door, turnstile or elevator while using existing readers.

Safetrust independently developed the SABRE MODULE to extend the useful life of existing HID iCLASS SE and multiCLASS SE readers by adding the connectivity and sensor features that were missing. By adding IoT technology to the reader, organizations can augment their traditional physical access solution and utilize the readers as network-connected sensors for touchless access, presence detection and remote management, in addition to being forward capable as industry standards evolve.

The SABRE MODULE is WiFi-enabled and supports digital certificate 802.1x authentication, MQTT and SIA OSDP, allowing full remote management of the traditional RFID reader, no matter the reader’s current wiring configuration.

    A8V MIND

Hexagon’s Geosystems presents a portable version of its Accur8vision detection system. A rugged all-in-one solution, the A8V MIND (Mobile Intrusion Detection) is designed to provide flexible protection of critical outdoor infrastructure and objects. Hexagon’s Accur8vision is a volumetric detection system that employs LiDAR technology to safeguard entire areas. Whenever it detects movement in a specified zone, it automatically differentiates a threat from a nonthreat, and immediately notifies security staff if necessary. Person detection is carried out within a radius of 80 meters from this device. Connected remotely via a portable computer device, it enables remote surveillance and does not depend on security staff patrolling the area.
