Biden calls on mob to 'pull back,' urges restoring decency

Planning to deliver a speech on how to revive the economy and provide financial relief for small business owners, President-elect Joe Biden’s staff were forced to tear up that speech, and rewrite new words for the restoration of the rule of law as protestors stormed the U.S. Capitol.

Biden asked for “simple decency,” after protesters wound their way inside the House chambers causing Capitol Police to draw weapons, and whisk Vice President Pence from the chambers.

Before the original speech could be delivers, the demonstration broke out, National Guard troops were deployed and lawmakers were evacuated to secure locations. A citywide curfew had been established as rioters continued to occupy the Capitol for hours. Police from nearby cities are expected to join the Capitol Police in securing the city.

“At this hour our democracy is under unprecedented assault unlike anything we've seen in modern times,” Biden said, adding that what unfolded was, “an assault on the rule of law like few times we have ever seen it.” Biden also said that the unruly chaos bordered on sedition. “The scenes of chaos at the capitol do not reflect a true America, do not represent who we are.

“I call on this mob to pull back and allow democracy to go forward,” Biden said. “At their best the words of a president can inspire, at their worst they can incite.”
Biden also called on Trump to “go on national television now” to “demand an end to this siege."
