Cleaning Up in Las Vegas

Cleaning Up in Las Vegas

Twenty-five years is a long time to do anything. I have been a steady companion attending ISC West for more than a quarter century. You know there have been changes over the years, many I very much appreciate. Tradeshows are fun for the reason of being able to talk to a variety of personalities and learn about the newest solutions.

Outside the convention center, generally warm to hot. What a surprise this year to need a jacket to walk across the street to the event. I liked that change this year.

I wanted to give my impressions of 2023 ISC West, but a good friend, Kevin Wine posted this on his LinkedIn page. I did ask Kevin if I could use his words instead.

“It seems like this year's event was the largest I can remember (going back...well a long time) and it is great to see the industry back in a high-growth mode! No matter where I walked in the exhibit hall (huge), the traffic was exceptional, meaning attendees were there to learn and engage with exhibitors from all angles.

“The security industry is embracing many macro-technology trends. More IoT, cloud, interoperability, ecosystems, partnerships and cooperation.v

“Newer "standards" for electronic security, like OSDP for access, are making headway and will create disruptive changes in demand from channels and customers alike.

“Finally, I noticed many start-up companies in access or surveillance; more than ever before. Thinking this speaks to the enormous opportunities for innovation that persist in the markets.”

Beautifully written by someone who has been in the security industry for many years. My take was similar in that I felt a terrific enthusiasm, and a vibrant energy in every exhibitor’s showcase. Speaking of which, Security Today magazine is weaving together a digital Product Showcase from numerous exhibitors. There will six or seven issues, starting April 9.

Give me a call (214) 773-1690 or send an email (rjensen@1105media.com) is you want to participate in a later issue. Meanwhile, now that I am back home, catching up on emails and messages, I would like to know about your experiences at ISC West.
