PSA Network Joins the Foundation for Advancing Security Talent (FAST) as an Exclusive Member

The PSA Network (PSA), the world’s largest consortium of professional systems integrators, today announced it has joined the Foundation for Advancing Security Talent (FAST) as an exclusive member, reinforcing its commitment to developing and promoting career pathways in the security industry.

“At PSA, we’re deeply invested in the success of our members and the future of our industry,” said Matt Barnette, president and CEO of the PSA Network. “Joining FAST as an exclusive member allows us to further champion workforce development and elevate the next generation of security professionals who will shape out industry’s future.”

FAST, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by the Security Industry Association (SIA) and the Electronic Security Association (ESA), connects talent with opportunities in security technology and life safety, advocating for workforce growth and development.

Through this collaboration, FAST members will work together to expand professional development programs, strengthen industry visibility and provide resources to attract, educate and retain top talent in security. PSA has previously contributed through its collaboration with SIA on the release of, “Secure Your Future: Security Industry Careers Guide.” This landmark resource helps to address critical skills shortages in the security sector by providing students, career-changers and industry entrants with in-depth insight into the mission and scope of the security profession.

“SIA, ESA and PSA all firmly believe that FAST is the platform through which we can make measurable and meaningful progress toward addressing the number one challenge facing the industry—finding qualified talent,” said Don Erickson, CEO of SIA. “PSA shares the same sense of urgency about the need to grow our talent pipeline, and together with their voice and expertise, we will ensure that the foundation is well equipped to communicate the mission-driven purpose of our industry to potential employees. We are honored by PSA’s strong commitment to the mission of FAST as one of its three governing members. It is time to make a difference—together.”

PSA is committed to professional development and community building in the security industry. Its flagship events, PSA TEC and PSA Convention, serve as the premier gatherings for education, technology exploration and peer networking. Complementing these experiences, PSA University delivers year-round education designed to strengthen technical expertise, business acumen and leadership capabilities at every level. Through these initiatives, and others, as well as a steadfast focus on integrator success, PSA is a trusted force driving progress and professionalism in the evolving physical security landscape.

  • From Surveillance to Intelligence

Years ago, it would have been significantly more expensive to run an analytic like that — requiring a custom-built solution with burdensome infrastructure demands — but modern edge devices have made it accessible to everyone. It also saves time, which is a critical factor if a missing child is involved. Video compression technology has played a critical role as well. Over the years, significant advancements have been made in video coding standards — including H.263, MPEG formats, and H.264—alongside compression optimization technologies developed by IP video manufacturers to improve efficiency without sacrificing quality. The open-source AV1 codec developed by the Alliance for Open Media—a consortium including Google, Netflix, Microsoft, Amazon and others — is already the preferred decoder for cloud-based applications, and is quickly becoming the standard for video compression of all types.
