The pathway to mitigating threats may include organizational and individual liabilities, in other words resetting the clock. Campus security professionals may need to review physical security protection concepts and CPTED. Also under review may be armed defender options and team configuration, physical security infrastructure and security technologies.

Director of Public Safety, Newman International Academy of Arlington, Texas
Founding police chief with the Newman International Academy accountable for the safety and security of eleven K-12 campuses with 3,000+ students and a $3.5MM Police/Security budget. Developed, submitted and implemented all police agency formation documents for TCOLE and the FBI, the department’s policy and operations manual, and the school district’s multi-hazard emergency operations plan, standard response protocols and standard reunification method. Trained the entire school district staff, students and parents on these plans, procedures and protocols. Researched and implemented the P-25-compliant radio system for the police department funded through grants, as well as an emergency mass notification system for the school district.
Bachelor of Arts, Criminal Justice, American Military University. Graduated summa cum laude.
Grandmaster and 8th degree black belt.

Dr. Solis serves as the deputy director for leadership and community impact at Region One Education Service Center in Edinburg, Texas. Among her assignments are classroom management, community outreach, educational leadership and staff development. Her background in education includes a high school principal in Alamo, Texas and superintendent at La Villa Independent School District, and assistant superintendent in the San Antonio ISD. Dr. Solis has served at Region One ESC for the past four years.
She earned her Doctor of Education degree at Texas A&M Kingsville in 2015 in Educational Leadership and Administration.
