Toronto Transit Commission To Roll Out IP Video Technology To Entire Fleet

March Networks, a provider of intelligent IP video and business analysis applications, recently announced the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is expanding its roll-out of the company's mobile video surveillance solution to its entire fleet of public transit vehicles and has also selected the solution for deployment across its Wheel-Trans paratransit fleet. The TTC previously selected the mobile systems and software for use on its city buses and streetcars. Three hundred units are currently installed on TTC buses and March Networks expects to ship more than 1,500 additional systems by the end of fiscal year 2008, including 150 units for Wheel-Trans vehicles.

One of the largest transit authorities in North America, TTC selected the mobile solution to enhance passenger and driver security onboard its vehicles and to increase the level of service it offers to customers. The solution includes advanced enterprise video management software supported by wireless connectivity, and video recording devices designed specifically for demanding mobile environments.

"TTC's selection of our mobile solution for its paratransit vehicles, in addition to its sizeable bus and streetcar fleet, reaffirms the strength of our solution and our leadership position in the North American transportation market," said Peter Strom, president and CEO of March Networks. "We are pleased to provide TTC with high performance video surveillance capabilities that will increase operational efficiency while supporting its focus on providing a secure public transit environment."
