Hospital Emergency Room Deploys Video Analytics

ioimage recently announced that it has been selected to provide a video analytics solution for a Texas hospital to ensure 24-hour operation and security at its emergency room.

The hospital recently deployed the solution at its emergency room in conjunction with surveillance cameras to alert nursing staff when patients arrive at the entrance or if someone should slip and fall outside the building. The system automatically identifies any approaching individual and alerts the staff with a visual and audible alert of the person outside and their status. This enables the medical staff to focus on caring for patients and hospital staff to attend to their daily tasks, while providing secure and safe 24-hour access to the hospital’s emergency room.

By implementing ioimage’s video analytics, hospital officials estimate savings of $240,000 annually on around-the-clock staffing. It also enables the healthcare facility to comply with a state law requiring all hospitals to offer an emergency room with all-hours access.

ioimage offered a unique solution to the Texas hospital and set itself apart when compared with other systems. While other solutions offered motion alarm capabilities, they lacked key behavior scenarios and caused too many false alarms. ioimage’s solution identifies people lying down and can also determine coverage area and eliminate non-critical areas, such as the street next to the hospital.

“We’re pleased that ioimage has been recognized by this Texas hospital as offering a reliable, easy to install intelligent video solution for its surveillance monitoring needs,” said Zeev Farkash, vice president of sales and customer services for ioimage. “This installation verifies ioimage’s approach to video analytics, providing solutions to small to medium sized installations, such as in the healthcare market, that benefit from enhanced security and also gain substantial savings.”

  • Evolving Cybersecurity Strategies

Organizations are increasingly turning their attention to human-focused security approaches, as two out of three (68%) cybersecurity incidents involve people. Threat actors are shifting from targeting networks and systems to hacking humans via social engineering methods, living off human errors as their most prevalent attack vector. Whether manipulated or not, human cyber behavior is leveraged to gain backdoor access into systems. This mainly results from a lack of employee training and awareness about evolving attack techniques employed by malign actors. Read Now
