Axis Opens Configuration, Logistics Center In Atlanta

Axis Communications recently announced that it is establishing a new configuration and logistics center in Atlanta.

The new center will further improve the supply of products to North and South America, enable Axis to offer enhanced services closer to its customers and strengthen its presence in these markets. The new center is part of Axis’ growth strategy and further reinforces its role as global market leader.

Through its establishment in Atlanta, deliveries will be streamlined to distribution partners in the Americas. Previously, distributors in the Americas received products from Axis' configuration and logistics centers in Thailand and Sweden.

“We will be able to serve our customers in the North and South American markets via more efficient transportation, which will also reduce the environmental impact,” said Per Ädelroth, vice president of Axis’ Supply Chain Operations. “Going forward, products from our manufacturers will be transported to Atlanta in bulk packaging, where final configuration and individual packaging will take place before being sent out to our distribution partners. This will shrink the transport volume by more than half, reducing the environmental impact and costs.”

Atlanta was selected because of its business-friendly environment and the fact that its airport is both the largest in the world and only about 250 miles from the port of Savannah, one of the fast growing ports in the country.

Axis Communications works in close collaboration with suppliers and contract manufacturers for the production of its goods. There is a well-structured process for production and delivery of products, from component purchasing and electronics production, to final assembly, quality control and delivery. Axis already has configuration and logistics centers in Sweden, Hungary and Thailand.

“We are excited about the opening of the configuration and logistics center because it ensures that we can offer our North and South American customers the highest quality service,” said Fredrik Nilsson, general manager of Axis Communications Inc. “Axis has seen tremendous growth in North and South America over the last few years, and having a local configuration and logistics center will help us reach our aggressive growth goals.”
