NSA Launches New High-tech Recruitment Tools

The National Security Agency announced the launch of two new digital communications efforts. These efforts are designed to educate prospective employees on career opportunities with NSA as part of the overall push to recruit the best and brightest to support NSA’s cyber security initiatives. This year will be NSA’s largest hiring effort in recent years.

First is the NSA Career Links Smartphone application, which is available for download through the iTunes platform. NSA Career Links delivers real-time NSA updates directly to the user's iPhone. This includes information about available employment opportunities, career fairs, and agency news. Users can view videos highlighting NSA employee experiences.

Second, NSA is employing smart phone tagging on many of its print-based recruitment advertisements. Users with phones equipped with the iOS or Android operating systems can scan these tags, which will launch a video related to the advertisement's content.

"This fiscal year for us is going to be a tremendous hiring year. We are looking for people in the science, technology, engineering, and math skill fields." Said, Kathy Hutson, associate director for Human Resources. "We are using a variety of marketing tools from traditional marketing tools like billboards to our newest digital recruitment tools. Our need for these skills is enormous; therefore, we need to be using cool high tech tools."

To that end, these digital communication efforts employ the tools today’s tech savvy generation uses most to communicate the information they need to know to make informed decisions about their professional futures.
