Mobile Active Defense Partners with MainNerve on Healthcare Smartphone Security

Mobile Application Development (M.A.D.) Partners LLC and MainNerve are collaborating to provide iPhone, iPad and smartphone security and compliance to the critical healthcare sector.

MainNerve, founded in 2001 and headquartered in Phoenix, Ariz., specializes in information security services and solutions primarily for the healthcare industry. MainNerve's client roster includes large, multi-state healthcare systems as well as regional and local healthcare providers such as Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Arizona, Ardent Healthcare Systems and Vanguard Health Systems.

Jeff Logsdon, CEO and co-founder of MainNerve, understands the challenges healthcare providers face in applying comprehensive security and privacy programs and was quickly able to see the value that Mobile Active Defense and its mobile enterprise and compliance security server (MECS) solution had for MainNerve customers. MainNerve sees it as the only viable option for securing smartphone and tablet devices.

Logsdon said, "We've focused for years on methodologies for securing enterprise networks, but the obvious next step is to apply those methodologies to the burgeoning mobile environment. Unless you apply the same metrics and defenses of your enterprise information security program to your mobile devices, you're not really securing anything. Mobile Active Defense was our clear choice based on meeting these criteria. They are the only company able to fill an obvious and immediate need for our clients, especially as it pertains to HIPAA regulations."

In a healthcare case study, Logsdon continues to say, "There is a clear differentiation between M.A.D. with its true device lock-down, its VPN enabled threat management, its geolocation enforcement, and the limited capabilities of other vendors."

M.A.D. Partners LLC is the only company that has developed and deployed a MECS server that locks down iPhones and iPads as well as smartphones and tablet devices, giving the enterprise complete control, management and administration over its entire mobile population, based upon the devices' actual physical location.

Until the availability of Mobile Active Defense, the BES set RIM apart by permitting granular control of BlackBerry devices, which even allowed President Barack Obama to use one. With the availability of the MECS solution, iPhones, iPads and other smartphones can now be held to the same stringent security protocols that compliance guidelines and laws require. Organizations can easily meet their various regulatory mandates, all the while assuring an appropriate, policy-driven sense of balance between security, privacy, compliance and usability.

For more than two decades, Rob Smith, CTO and co-founder of M.A.D. Partners LLC, has been actively involved in many high-profile security technology design, support and management efforts. Smith commented on the MainNerve alliance by saying, "I am personally delighted that we have been selected as MainNerve's mobile security partner of choice. As the use of smartphones and PDAs continue to grow in all industry sectors, especially in the healthcare, finance and government verticals, so have the security risks exponentially. With Mobile Active Defense, MainNerve's customers can now secure their iDevices and other smartphones and tablets to their requisite level of compliance."
