Get Sweaty to Help Children in Need at The Security 5K

Get Sweaty to Help Children in Need at The Security 5K

Beginning in only 7 days is the one-of-a-kind event for the security industry! Yes, of course, ISC West 2013, but perhaps as equally important, the Security 5K/2K. This is a chance for the security industry to take a much-needed break from meetings, sessions and educational events to bond together in a philanthropic way by helping to feed, educate, clothe and care for children in need…all around the world!

For only 30 bucks, you can participate in this life-changing, fundraising event, with all proceeds going to Mission 500, a non-profit organization dedicated to changing and becoming a catalyst to make the world a better place by focusing on all children and communities in crisis. Besides, if you are one of the first 500 participants, you will receive a t-shirt and a goody bag, and all participants will receive post run/walk snacks and beverages. And, I don’t know about you, but I know for me, I can never have too many t-shirts!

The race is scheduled to depart on the second day of ISC West 2013, Thursday April 11th at 7:30am and will conclude around 8:30am. And, to motivate you to actually get up early and not hit the snooze button several times, there are even awards! Award categories are based on age: 20-30; 31-40; 41-50; and 50+. Also, each first place male and female runner will receive an award, as well. The awards reception will take place at 5:15pm on the afternoon of April 11th at the “media-stage” in the concourse, close to the Expo hall entrance.

Looks like it’s time to shine those sneakers, replace those old, ratty shoe strings and get pumped up to run and walk for a great cause!

Oh, and for those who don’t like exert any physical energy unless it is absolutely necessary, you can still help by sponsoring a child or making a financial donation.

For more information about the race, visit www.security5k.com.

To register go to: www.firstgiving.com/mission500, or you can register the day before the race at the Mission 500 table top, located outside the Expo hall at the main entrance.
