HID Global Unveils its New Instant Financial Issuance Printer for Seamless Migration to EMV Payment

HID Global Unveils its New Instant Financial Issuance Printer for Seamless Migration to EMV PaymentHID Global announced the new FARGO HDPii Plus Financial Card Printer/Encoder, the successor to the desktop solution for retransfer printing of financial cards. Featuring the company’s fifth generation of High Definition Printing (HDP) technology, the new HDPii Plus enables the secure, instant issuance of both ISO magnetic swipe and contact/contactless EMV cards at thousands of branch offices and other distributed locations, saving both time and money for the financial issuer while providing the card holder with a secure card that can be used immediately.  HID Global will be demonstrating its new instant financial issuance solution at CARTES America, booth #202 in Las Vegas from April 23-25.

To meet the high security and performance levels demanded by instant financial issuance, the new HDPii Plus features AES256 data encryption, resin ribbon erase functionality and inline encoding capability for both ISO magnetic swipe and Europay MasterCard and Visa (EMV) contact/contactless chips.  For increased productivity, an optional dual card input hopper uniquely allows for convenient and automatic switching between two different card types.  This feature now enables banks to seamlessly and securely print to different card stocks when either Visa or MasterCard pre-branded cards are used or when switching between traditional magnetic swipe and EMV cards are needed for customers.

“As one of the last countries to migrate to EMV card technology, the U.S. payments infrastructure is now undergoing a rapid transition to EMV payment cards,” said Alan Fontanella, vice president of product marketing, Secure Issuance with HID Global. “The HDPii platform changed the industry in 2007, when we launched the world’s first financial retransfer printer and with the introduction of our new HDPii Plus today, HID Global maintains its leading position in providing customers with the most innovative solutions needed to help them through such important technology shifts in our industry.”

HID Global’s HDP solutions are utilized to securely issue millions of financial cards around the world by more banks, credit unions and retailers than any other desktop printing solution.  Most recently adopted by one of South America’s largest banks, the HDPii platform is the most widely-adopted retransfer printing solution in the world today with over 5,000 printer units manufactured and in use since 2008.  The new HDPii Plus further expands HID Global’s financial solutions portfolio and delivers a secure solution, compliant with industry financial card association standards for the instant issuance of ISO magnetic swipe and EMV cards.

In the world of IT, insider threats are on a steep upward trajectory. The cost of these threats - including negligent and malicious employees that may steal authorized users’ credentials, rose from $8.3 million in 2018 to $16.2 million in 2023. Insider threats towards physical infrastructures often bleed into the realm of cybersecurity; for instance, consider an unauthorized user breaching a physical data center and plugging in a laptop to download and steal sensitive digital information. • Enhanced Situation Awareness

Did someone break into the building? Maybe it is just an employee pulling an all-nighter. Or is it an actual perpetrator? Audio analytics, available in many AI-enabled cameras, can add context to what operators see on the screen, helping them validate assumptions. If a glass-break detection alert is received moments before seeing a person on camera, the added situational awareness makes the event more actionable. Read Now
