Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to Celebrate Flir Systems New Engineering and Manufacturing Facility

Elkridge, Maryland hosts ceremony at 9:00am EST on Wednesday, May 1, 2013.Flir Systems is pleased to announce a ribbon-cutting ceremony that will mark the opening of its new engineering and manufacturing facility in Elkridge, MD. The ceremony will begin at 9:00am EST on Wednesday, 1 May at 7055 Troy Hill Road, Elkridge, MD. Invited guests include members of Maryland’s congressional delegation, Maryland state agencies, Howard County and members of both the Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security.

Flir’s Elkridge facility is dedicated to delivering solutions that protect our service men and women in harm’s way, helping Department of Homeland Security protect critical infrastructure, secure our borders and provide National Guard Civil Support Teams and first responders with the tools they need. Flir provides full-spectrum, mission solutions in the areas of CBRNE response, force protection, broad area surveillance and critical infrastructure protection.

“I’m extremely proud of what the men and women of Flir have accomplished since we started operations in Maryland in 2009,” said Roger Wells, vice president of operations for Flir’s Integrated Systems group. “Since then, we have grown significantly due in large part to our successful partnership with the state of Maryland and Howard County.”

The company is moving from a 35,000sqft facility into a new 80,000sqft facility to accommodate its existing development and production programs as well as its strong business pipeline. The Elkridge facility directly employs more than 70 employees, consultants, and subcontractors. Business from the Elkridge facility also supports in excess of 95 small and medium-sized businesses in the State of Maryland.

The Elkridge facility designed and developed the Integrated Force Protection Systems (nicknamed Kraken), the Integrated CBRN Dismounted Reconnaissance Sets, the Kits and Outfits (DR SKO) System and the Customs and Border Protection Mobile Surveillance Capability (MSC).
