HID Global and Datawatch Systems Showcase Mobile Access Control

HID Global announced it has worked withDatawatch Systems, Inc., an HID Advantage Gold Partner, and access control and security systems integrator, to create a demonstration suite at 555 12th Street N.W, in downtown Washington D.C, where prospective tenants can preview the property’s mobile access control capabilities that are integrated with other advanced technology in the multi-tenant building. Visitors are provided with a Samsung Galaxy S4 or Apple iPhone 5C smartphone that can be used to enter and exit the suite and activate other systems inside the building.

“We are excited about this project with Datawatch, whose client can now show prospective tenants, first-hand, the value of combining security and convenience at the door with our award-winning HID Mobile Access solution that is powered by Seos,” said Debra Spitler, vice president, strategic alliances with HID Global. “This capability is quickly becoming a competitive advantage for property owners and managers who want to offer the best possible tenant experience leveraging mobile phones and other smart devices.”

Datawatch’s DirectAccess system is used to manage the mobile access control solution in its client’s demonstration suite. HID Global’s mobile-enabled iCLASS SE readers have been deployed for access to the suite, which can be entered using a Mobile ID from HID Global that has been provisioned to one of two demonstration smartphones, a Samsung Galaxy S4 or an Apple iPhone 5C, each utilizing Bluetooth Smart for mobile access. Visitors can either tap their device to a reader at the door, or rotate it as they approach from a distance. The initial Mobile ID authentication at the door also activates the HVAC system and lights. The DirectAccess system analyzes load requirements with each subsequent entry and exit using HID Global’s Mobile IDs, and adjusts accordingly. Departure of the last person triggers the controls to turn off the lights.

“We are pleased to partner with HID Global in order to offer this cutting-edge technology to our clients,” said Billy Peel, executive vice president of Datawatch Systems.

For over 30 years, the products and services Datawatch markets have been driven by client requirements.“Anticipating what our clients are looking for is what led us to offer this secure mobile access control solution,” said Jonathan Peel, regional sales manager of Datawatch.“It offers many user benefits and is interoperable with the more than one million credentials we have already issued on access cards, key fobs and other ID solutions.”

Datawatch had additional reasons for selecting HID Mobile Access for its client’s demonstration suite, including the fact that it operates with the most commonly used iOS and Android devices, and is very flexible. “Even during a call, the mobile device can be used to open a door,” said Para Weerasuriya, director, technology services of Datawatch. “HID Global’s solution works seamlessly with our DirectAccess system, and can be configured to use both Mobile IDs and existing proximity, iCLASS and other smart card credentials.”
