Hikvision Announces Integration with Control4 Smart Home Solutions

Hikvision USA Inc. has partnered with Control4 to bring cutting edge video surveillance technology to the Smart House market. Hikvision cameras are easily integrated with the Control4 smart home operating system, adding to a robust suite of features by which users can control and automate lighting, music, security and energy throughout the home.

Control4 has been delivering Smart Home products for ten years, with a customer base than spans over 200,000 homes globally. Available through a professional network of over 3400 installers worldwide, Control4 unites networked home devices such as window shades, entertainment systems, door locks, thermostats, and security cameras. They are controlled by a common operating system that can be accessed via a touch screen on the wall, a remote control, or a smartphone app. Remote monitoring is an added benefit for users who are away from home and who want the peace of mind of checking in on their children, elderly parents, or pets.

“Remote monitoring is a huge motivator for our customers,” remarked Noel Gouff, senior director of business development for Control4.

A recent poll conducted by the company showed that 92% of American homeowners would feel safer if they were able to monitor and control their homes remotely. Eighty nine percent said it would offer them peace of mind.

Hikvision IP cameras are particularly well suited for the Control4 family because of their superior image quality, high performance, and aesthetic appeal. Over 40 Hikvision models are supported by drivers available in the Control4 Online Driver Database, including the 3 MP outdoor dome (DS-2CD2132-I) and the pinhole camera (DS-2CD6412FWD). Having a wide variety of available security camera devices for a broad range of home security needs is another important aspect that makes Hikvision cameras an attractive part of any customer’s Smart Home..

“Working with partners such as Hikvision is incredibly important to us because we are committed to interoperability: Control4 is an open ecosystem. Working with a variety of partners means our customers have a broader selection of products to choose from,” Mr. Gouff explained.

Hikvision’s Application Programming Interface (API) is common to all their products, allowing for great interoperability with third party devices.

“Hikvision is committed to providing flexibility and freedom to our customers, so interoperability is very important to us,” stated Eagle Ying, chief technology officer for Hikvision USA. “The hard work of our development team has resulted in over 100 technology partners for Hikvision. We are very happy about our partnership with Control4 and we are pleased that security installers will now be able to provide Hikvision products to the home automation market.”
