ASIS 2016 was a successful one for many at the show, as new products and exciting sessions helped advance the security industry yet again

ASIS 2016 was a successful one for many at the show, as new products and exciting sessions helped advance the security industry yet again. While there are too many products to spotlight in one story, here are some of the new tools and topics that stood out at the show:

Session on uniting the worlds of Physical Security and Cyber Security

On the last day of the expo, Jasvir Gill of AlertEnterprise ran a session titled, “Physical Security is From Mars; Cybersecurity is from Venus” where he discussed the tradition of companies dealing with security in silos, leading to an increased number of attacks on things like critical infrastructure. Gill emphasized the need to coordinate physical and IT security going forward.

Sophisticated Social Outreach

It’s pretty rare to see new millennial tech at a tradeshow, but ProtectionOne helped keep the attendees young by creating exclusive Snapchat Filters, sponsoring PokemonGo lures, and giving out high tech gadgets like drones and VR headsets. All these initiatives ensured the company’s booth was brimming with activity throughout the show. ProtectionOne was also promoting a number of quality case studies, such as this one on Data Analytics, and another on Casual Dining.

Exciting Tech Demos

Open Options debuted the demo of Mercury’s latest bridge, allowing Software House customers to migrate to an open hardware platform while gaining a choice in access control software. A number of other products were on display as well, including the award-winning DNA Fusion. The company ended the show on a high note, with a great party at nearby Tapa Toro.

Award-Winning Products

Over at the Salient Systems booth, a New Product of the Year award was given to the company’s RED3, an integrated server, switch and software combined into one unit for HD and 4K resolution and up to 24TB of storage. The RED3 IS includes 16 or 24 channels of CompleteView™ VMS Software.

Advanced Simplicity

 Throughout the show, loads of interest was shown at the Vicon Industries’ booth by those walking by. The main reason?  The Valerus VMS, which includes simplified security operations, easy-to-use maintenance, and integration with Vicon’s VAX. The VMS  also features increased efficiency, high performance video with HD resolution, and a clean and versatile layout.
