Show Stoppers

Sometimes you can't help but stop and stare in awe at every ISC West has to offer.

While in Vegas, I like to stop by every booth that I can so I can see what's new, whether it's a product or a company. The selection is never waning at ISC West, making it difficult to see everyone on my list, but here are a few companies that are must-sees.

Honeywell. This is definitely one company that always comes to mind when you think of security. From surveillance cameras, VMS, life safety and countless more, this company has it all. This year, their booth was the busiest I'd ever seen, and it was great to speak with company execs and see so many attendees checking out the company's displays. One product I checked out while at their booth was their ProWatch 4.3 that has new features and updates such as their iOS mobile app that allows access to be managed from anywhere, and since it's an open platform it provides easy integration with third parties.

Another company I should mention is Sielox. At the show, they were displaying several of their new and innovative locks and toggles, such as the new Lock Toggle for the 1700 Intelligent Controller.

Access control is so important, especially in schools where teachers need to be able to secure their rooms effortlessly, especially in any emergency situation. While at the booth, Karen Evans, president and CEO of Sielox, showed me just how easy this lock works. Plus, a teacher doesn't need to worry about carrying multiple key cards around, which are easy to mix up or lose. With the new Toggle, only on card is needed and then the teacher, or anyone needed to lock or unlock the door, can do just that in seconds. And when dealing with campus security, seconds matter.
