Active Shooter Prompts Quick Response to Indiana Beauty College

Two females were injured after a man entered the beauty college and open fired. He then shot and killed himself.

Police in Fort Wayne responded to the scene of a shooting a Ravenscroft Beauty College where at least two people were injured by a man who open fired on those inside. He then shot and killed himself.

The station said officers received a report of an active shooter at the school around 6:45 p.m. local time. Upon arriving, they found a woman with a gunshot wound outside the building and rushed her to the hospital in serious condition. The woman’s status has since been downgraded to critical.

As officers entered the building, they found a male suspect who was deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. They also found a second woman who was injured. She was rushed to the hospital and is in good condition.

Fort Wayne Police Officer Justin Chambers says they treated the incident as a possible active shooter at the time of dispatch and set up a perimeter and secured the premises. Local news stations report that as 50 law enforcement vehicles were at the scene, including city, county and members of the FBI task force.

Police believe the shooting was motivated by a domestic dispute.
