abode Systems' is expanding features to allow users to build a smart home their own way.

Giving users the ability to create and build their own smart home is important to a company like abode, so the next best move was to expand hardware and integrations in order to allow for the most functionality possible.

abode has announced new devices and advances to their ever-growing smart home system. Included in the announcement was a list of new hardware that includes smaller, mini door/window sensors, a recessed door sensor and slim door sensor, a welcome addition for many users who want their security measures to remain discreet.

In addition to the new, smaller sensors, there are a number of Z-Wave devices supported by the abode system adding to the dozens that are already available:

  • Aeotec Door/Window Sensor 6 (Model #ZW112-A)
  • Aeotec Smart Dimmer 6 (Model #ZW099-A02)
  • FortrezZ Z-Wave Water Valve (Model #WV01)
  • Sensative Invisible Door/Window Strips (Model #1101012)

abode also announced a number of new integrations including deeper Nest and ecobee support as well as smart RGB lighting. The new smart thermostat integrations will allow users to adjust and monitor the temperature in real-time and create temperature thresholds right from the mobile app. Users will also be able to create more complex quick actions and home automations from the abode web portal for the Nest and ecobee thermostats.

For enhanced smart lighting, abode is adding RGB light bulb support for LifX and Philips Hue. The abode app will give customers power over the brightness, hue, and saturation for all RGB lighting from those brands. Users can also create and modify quick actions and automations that include the smart lights from LifX and Hue.

In addition to the advanced support, the abode Amazon Alexa Smart Home Skill will now also support voice control of the RGB smart lighting devices from LifX and Philips.

  • The Future is Happening Outside the Cloud

For years, the cloud has captivated the physical security industry. And for good reason. Remote access, elastic scalability and simplified maintenance reshaped how we think about deploying and managing systems. But as the number of cameras grows and resolutions push from HD to 4K and beyond, the cloud’s limits are becoming unavoidable. Bandwidth bottlenecks. Latency lags. Rising storage costs. These are not abstract concerns. Read Now

  • Unlocking Trustworthy AI: Building Transparency in Security Governance

In situations where AI supports important security tasks like leading investigations and detecting threats and anomalies, transparency is essential. When an incident occurs, investigators must trace the logic behind each automated response to confirm its validity or spot errors. Demanding interpretable AI turns opaque “black boxes” into accountable partners that enhance, rather than compromise, organizational defense. Read Now
