Back on the Road Again

I’m not sure how many of these tradeshows I’ve attended; it’s been quite a few, but nothing compared to Sandra Jones, who told me the other day she has been to at least 100. Well, that’s back when there were three or four of these events per years.

If you don’t know Sandy Jones, you should meet her. By her own admission, she has slowed down a little bit over the years, but I still can’t keep up with her because she is a bundle of energy, and a wealth of knowledge. If there is someone you want to know more about, you can bet Sandy knows them well.

Sandy is an amazing woman, and is a great inspiration to me. Let me tell you a little about her. She beat cancer several years ago, but it’s back. She has Stage 4 breast cancer, which has spread to her lungs, bones and liver. She was diagnosed two years ago, but she is still rocking and rolling.

Why?

The security industry and the people in general, mean the world to her.

“The people in this industry are wonderful,” she told me. “That is what makes it all good. We have an opportunity to help a lot of people in this industry, so I we have to be careful what we say to people; careful what we do, because it is always important to do the right thing every time.”

Every day is a bonus for Sandy. She has been through chemotherapy and has treatments every three weeks, and yet she soldiers onward and upward. During her stay at ISC West, she will take part in the SIA activates where she has been a fixture for more years than she can remember. So keeping people on the right path, and making sure the security industry presses forward is her passion.

A public relations security consultant, Sandy has a basket of clients that she will meet during the show, trying to sit with as many as eight clients and prospective clients each day would drain the energy of most people. Not Sandy, she never takes any day for granted.

For me, I just wanted you to know how much I appreciate Sandra Jones. She has always treated me like a king. I’m pretty lucky to know this lady. You should meet her if you get the chance.
