Anchorage Airport Open Again After Reported Bomb Threat Last Week

False report of bomb on cargo plane temporarily closes facility

The Anchorage International Airport has reopening. It had been temporarily closed after a reported bomb threat on Saturday. The China Air cargo flight had been headed to Taipei Taiwan, when it was diverted to Anchorage. The threat was called into the Port of Seattle, where the airplane began its journey.

Once the airplane landed is the thoroughly searched but authorities found nothing, although an investigation from the threat is ongoing.The airplane was taken to a secure, remote section of the airport where it was searched.

All other flights bound for Anchorage were diverted to Fairbanks. Airport officials used social media, specifically its Twitter page to announce that the airport had reopened.

FBI Special Agent Steve Forrest said, “The FBI does not believe there is any continuing threat to our community as a result of this incident."
