Live from GSX 2023 Preview

It’s hard to believe, but it’s already September—and that means GSX 2023 is taking place next week in Dallas, Texas. The security industry’s biggest names and brightest minds will be coming together to showcase their latest developments, and whether you’re attending the show or keeping tabs on it from afar, you won’t want to miss a second of it. Remember to keep tabs on our GSX Live 2023 homepage—as well as @SecurToday and @CampusSecur on the social media site formerly known as Twitter—for anything and everything GSX-related!

Every year, Security Today joins forces with our industry partners to highlight their achievements and act as their megaphone for the duration of the show. This year’s Live From partners are HID (Booth 2209) and IPVideo (Booth 3245). I’ll be touching base with them multiple times daily to help pass along details about their presence at GSX, including product announcements, product demonstrations, booth tours, video interviews, happy hours, and more.

HID will be displaying a robust suite of solutions—as well as saving a few surprises for the show itself. Its Mobile Access Solutions will be taking center stage as more and more professionals opt for mobile devices to hold all necessary security credentials. According to the HID website, the key benefits of mobile access are that they increase convenience, increase efficiency on both the administrator and user ends, maximize security, and offer native touchless functionality. The organization has also released a Mobile Access ebook as a one-stop-shop for questions and information about the service.

They’ll also be promoting their Employee Badge in Apple Wallet service, which lets an organization’s staff and guests access corporate spaces from their iPhone or Apple Watch. Users can enter buildings and office spaces, open doors within the building, unlock workstations, access secure spaces, print securely, and streamline turnstiles without the use of physical badges. Further information is available in another HID ebook, “The Power of Employee Badge in Apple Wallet.”

IPVideo, meanwhile, boasts a number of event-driven, AI security and safety solutions in categories like alarm systems, detection/deterrent technology, surveillance equipment, and tracking/monitoring. The Sentry ERS Lockdown and Emergency Response System was explicitly designed to protect students, staff, and first responders during active shooter incidents. The product is made up of two devices: a base unit featuring a lockdown button that can launch lockdown procedures for an entire facility, and a dedicated Sentry ERS QuickCom.

The HALO Smart Sensor 3C is a health, safety, and vape-detection device that does not use cameras, record audio, or capture any form of personally identifiable information. The privacy allows for its installation in spaces like restrooms and common areas.

Finally, the ViewScan Weapons Detection System is a concealed weapons and cell phone detection system that can also assist with loss prevention. It’s a passive system that doesn’t emit radiation and is safe for anyone to pass through. It can archive images and data to flag anomalies and review data for previous scans. Its browser-based user interface allows administrators to monitor the unit from any PC and integrate it with existing security management systems. It can also pinpoint the exact location of a flagged object on one’s person while avoiding detection of non-ferrous metals like gold and silver.

This is just a taste of what’s to come in the following week. Remember to check in with us as often as you’re able to get the full show experience straight to your fingertips. Travel safe, and we’ll see you in Dallas!
