Four people were killed, including a NYPD officer, in a midtown Manhattan shooting on Monday. That’s according to CNN.
The gunman, Shane Devon Tamura, drove cross country from Las Vegas before the shooting. He died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
He walked in 345 Park Avenue around 6:45 p.m. EST and began shooting with an AR-15 type rifle. After killing Didarul Islam, he walked around the building and took elevators indiscriminately shooting others.
Tamura was reportedly looking for the offices of the NFL. In his suicide note, he claimed he suffered from CTE, a brain injury from consistent head trauma. But he didn’t play in the NFL.
CNN had more about what the note said:
The short note was scribbled over three pages and found by investigators after the shooting, the source said.
“Terry Long football gave me CTE and it caused me to drink a gallon of antifreeze,” the shooter wrote, according to the source. “You can’t go against the NFL, they’ll squash you.”
Terry Long, a former football player for the Pittsburgh Steelers, was diagnosed with CTE. He died by suicide after drinking antifreeze in 2005.
