New Program Tackles Security Industry Skills Gap

i-PRO University launches brand-agnostic technical and sales tracks to address growing demands for AI-enabled edge analytics expertise.

i-PRO Americas Inc. has launched i-PRO University: a training and certification program designed to address the security industry’s growing demand for skilled professionals

The open-enrollment program arrives as physical security systems increasingly converge with IT infrastructure. As technologies like AI-enabled edge analytics, cloud-based systems and cybersecurity frameworks become standard, the industry faces a significant skills gap.

Unlike traditional manufacturer programs focused on proprietary platforms, i-PRO University introduces brand-agnostic technical and sales training. The curriculum covers best practices for deploying AI-enabled cameras, network configuration and cybersecurity hardening applicable across modern security platforms.

"i-PRO University provides a fresh approach to training physical security professionals with the goal of building and sustaining professional development," said Adrian Voorkamp, director of learning at i-PRO. "This innovative training includes brand-agnostic courses which are open to our network of i-PRO certified partners as well as any resellers, consultants, A&Es, and individuals who wish to strengthen their skillsets."

The program features two primary learning tracks at the associate, professional and expert levels:

  • Technical Training: This track covers product-agnostic fundamentals and detailed instruction on i-PRO technologies. It prepares integrators to design and deploy AI-enabled edge systems built on open platforms. Cybersecurity is embedded throughout the coursework, focusing on device configuration, firmware management and network segmentation.
  • Sales Training: This track focuses on consultative selling within converged security and IT environments. It is designed to help resellers articulate return on investment, risk mitigation and compliance value rather than hardware specifications alone.

The BICSI-accredited courseware is delivered through a blended learning model, including on-demand eLearning, on-site classroom instruction, virtual sessions and hands-on labs.

The program is currently available to professionals in North America.
