FAST Opens Nominations for Security Technician of the Year

Annual awards program highlights technical excellence and leadership among field professionals ahead of ESX 2026 ceremony.

The Foundation for Advancing Security Talent is now accepting nominations for the 2026 Security Technician of the Year Awards.

The program recognizes security technicians who demonstrate technical expertise, customer service and leadership. Award recipients will be honored during a ceremony on June 4 at the Electronic Security Expo in Dallas.

The awards, established in 2023, aim to highlight professionals responsible for the design, installation and maintenance of systems that protect people and property. According to program organizers, the initiative focuses on individuals who solve complex field challenges while mentoring new talent entering the workforce.

“Each year, the Security Technician of the Year Awards remind us just how much talent, dedication and professionalism exist within the technician community,” said John Nemerofsky, chair of the FAST board of directors. “The individuals recognized through this program represent the very best of our industry.”

Industry stakeholders, including integrators, manufacturers and consultants, are encouraged to submit candidates who show integrity and technical proficiency.

Taylor Carr, a FAST board member, noted that the awards serve as a tool for workforce development by elevating the profession and inspiring the next generation of field workers.

The deadline for nominations is April 22.
