Frankfurt Airport Deploys Advanced Scanners at Terminal 3

New security lanes feature millimeter-wave technology and AI-powered analysis to streamline passenger flow and improve detection.

High-resolution screening technology has been integrated into the newly opened Terminal 3 at Frankfurt Airport to modernize passenger checkpoints. The installation includes 17 QPS201 security scanners and two QPS Walk2000 walk-through models, designed to increase throughput at one of Europe’s busiest aviation hubs.

The QPS201 systems utilize millimeter-wave technology and artificial intelligence algorithms to identify prohibited items. According to technical specifications, the automated image analysis maintains a false alarm rate below standard regulatory requirements. This allows security personnel to focus exclusively on flagged areas, reducing the time required for secondary manual searches.

Complementing the stationary booths, the terminal features the QPS Walk2000, which allows travelers to pass through security at a natural walking pace. This technology removes the requirement for passengers to remain stationary in a specific pose, further reducing dwell times at the lane.

All deployed units have received necessary certifications from the European Civil Aviation Conference and the U.S. Transportation Security Administration. The integration aims to balance rigorous safety protocols with the logistical demands of a facility capable of serving 19 million passengers annually.

Hexagon’s Geosystems presents a portable version of its Accur8vision detection system. A rugged all-in-one solution, the A8V MIND (Mobile Intrusion Detection) is designed to provide flexible protection of critical outdoor infrastructure and objects. Hexagon’s Accur8vision is a volumetric detection system that employs LiDAR technology to safeguard entire areas. Whenever it detects movement in a specified zone, it automatically differentiates a threat from a nonthreat, and immediately notifies security staff if necessary. Person detection is carried out within a radius of 80 meters from this device. Connected remotely via a portable computer device, it enables remote surveillance and does not depend on security staff patrolling the area.

  • HD2055 Modular Barricade

Delta Scientific’s electric HD2055 modular shallow foundation barricade is tested to ASTM M50/P1 with negative penetration from the vehicle upon impact. With a shallow foundation of only 24 inches, the HD2055 can be installed without worrying about buried power lines and other below grade obstructions. The modular make-up of the barrier also allows you to cover wider roadways by adding additional modules to the system. The HD2055 boasts an Emergency Fast Operation of 1.5 seconds giving the guard ample time to deploy under a high threat situation.
