ALCEA Rebrands Keyless Access Solution as ABLOY CUMULUS

The transition from ABLOY BEAT to a cloud-based platform reflects an industry shift toward connected security ecosystems for critical infrastructure.

ALCEA, a Finnish security technology firm, announced Monday, May 4, that it has rebranded its keyless access solution (previously known as ABLOY BEAT) as ABLOY CUMULUS.

The system originally launched as a mobile credential platform using Bluetooth-enabled padlocks. ALCEA states the hardware carries an IP68 environmental rating and uses hardened steel construction for deployment in challenging settings, including utility substations, transport hubs and energy facilities.

The rebranding reflects a shift from standalone devices to a cloud-integrated platform, the company said. It enables centralized management of access for assets spread across large geographic areas, with real-time audit trails to track each access event.

ALCEA described the architecture as relying on open REST APIs, which allow operators to connect access data to their existing management software. The setup supports a mobile interface for field technicians and contractors needing temporary entry to remote sites.

The company positions the platform for scalability, from small pilots to enterprise use across thousands of locations. It targets compliance and safety needs in sectors such as oil and gas, telecommunications and transportation.
