NAPCO Security Technologies Launches Redesigned Prima Mobile App

A major software update brings redesigned navigation, Apple Watch support and enhanced device controls to Prima security users.

NAPCO Security Technologies has released a major update to its Prima Self-Contained Smart Security System mobile application, introducing a redesigned user interface and improved smart home controls.

The Prima version 8 update focuses on core performance enhancements to provide faster, more reliable access for users managing their security and automation devices. Upgrades include simplified arming and disarming interfaces, clearer countdown timers for entry and exit and more detailed sensor status reports.

In addition to security functions, the update streamlines management of connected home devices such as smart locks, lighting, thermostats, garage doors and water valves. Alert preferences for push, email and text notifications have also been expanded to give users more granular control over system activity.

A key feature of the update is a new companion app for Apple Watch, which allows users to control system security directly from their wrist. Biometric authentication options and overall network security within the app have also been upgraded.

The update applies automatically through standard app updates on iOS and Android platforms. Existing system configurations, user credentials and connected devices transfer to the new interface without requiring re-pairing or manual setup.

Designed for both single-family homes and multi-dwelling housing units, the Prima system operates on a wireless architecture that eliminates the need for pre-wiring. The hardware utilizes self-healing Wi-Fi technology to maintain connection stability and minimize routine maintenance visits.
