Thirty Years of GSX — And Still Going Strong
Reflecting on 30 years at GSX, the annual security event proves that evolving technology and lasting industry relationships define the profession's strength.

There are some events that become more than just a tradeshow. Over time, they become part of your life, part of your career and part of the story you tell about an industry you have been fortunate enough to cover. For me, GSX is certainly one of those events.
GSX 2026 in Atlanta was another remarkable chapter—and my 30th GSX/ASIS show. Thirty years is a long time, and when I look back, I realize just how much has changed. The technology has evolved, security challenges have grown more complex, and the industry has become increasingly sophisticated. Yet one thing has remained constant: the people.
The crowds at this year's show were tremendous. Thousands of security professionals filled the aisles, particularly during the first two days, and they stayed engaged from the opening of the show through the final hours. They came to see the latest technology, learn about new security solutions and share the sound practices that help make our industry stronger.
The exhibitors were equally impressive. They came prepared—not simply to display products, but to talk with security professionals, demonstrate their solutions and explain how their technologies can address today's challenges. That face-to-face exchange is what makes GSX special.
And then there was Monday night's Securitas hamburger fry. What a wonderful evening! The hamburgers were delicious, but the real treat was sitting around with friends and colleagues, sharing stories, laughing and enjoying each other's company away from the busy show floor.
After 30 GSX/ASIS shows, I have accumulated a lot of memories and, more importantly, a lot of friendships. That is perhaps what I appreciate most. GSX has always been about technology and security, but it has also been about people.
Atlanta was another great memory. Now we turn the page toward GSX 2027 in Orlando. I look forward to seeing old friends, meeting new ones and discovering what the next generation of security technology will bring.
