Workplace Shooting at Virginia Facility Leaves Two Dead
A gunman killed two coworkers and injured a third at a Manassas equipment rental facility before dying of a self-inflicted gunshot.

Emergency responders answered multiple 911 calls reporting an active shooter at the United Rentals location on Wellington Road around 7 a.m., according to initial reporting from WTOP and WJLA News.
Local authorities identified the suspect as 37-year-old Marvin Grant, a recently hired employee at the company, the outlets further stated. Police statements cited by these media reports revealed that Grant arrived at work, warned a colleague that three people were going to die, and immediately opened fire with a handgun near the facility's garage area. The coverage further noted that law enforcement described Grant as 5 feet 9 inches tall with brown eyes and brown hair, holding a primary address in North Carolina.
Police identified the deceased victims as Richard Lamot, 48, and Christopher Serrano, 33. A third unidentified worker was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital and remains in stable condition, according to medical updates cited by the publications.
Following the shooting, the outlets detailed that Grant altered his vehicle's license plates to temporary North Carolina tags and fled Northern Virginia. Investigators tracked Grant's cellular phone signal as he traveled south toward Harrisonburg, prompting a statewide law enforcement broadcast.
Virginia State Police accounts provided to local news organizations confirmed that state troopers spotted Grant's silver Toyota Camry traveling southbound on Interstate 81 in Augusta County, more than 100 miles from the crime scene. Media reports indicated that troopers attempted a traffic stop at a rest area near mile marker 232, but Grant reentered his vehicle and led officers on a brief pursuit down the interstate.
The pursuit ended near mile marker 227 when Grant pulled onto the shoulder, exited the vehicle with a firearm and suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound around 10:30 a.m., according to state police details cited by the outlets. He was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital shortly thereafter.
The incident prompted precautionary lockdowns at surrounding educational institutions, including Jennie Dean Elementary School, as further reported. Local law enforcement confirmed that investigators are reviewing internal facility video footage as state and federal authorities assist in establishing an official motive.
