Milestone Updates XProtect and Arcules Video Management Tools
XProtect and Arcules updates cover camera notes, access permissions, system logs and sensor data, with mapping planned for later releases.

Updates to Milestone Systems’ XProtect and Arcules platforms add tools for managing camera information, access permissions and video storage across onsite, cloud and hybrid installations.
XProtect 2026 R2 introduces notes attached to camera views in Smart Client. Operators can record location information, shift handover details and instructions, while administrators manage the notes centrally through XProtect Management Client.
A log management feature consolidates audit, system and rule records for troubleshooting, activity reviews and compliance reporting. It also connects with third-party monitoring and log management systems.
New cameras and devices can inherit the access permissions assigned to their group, reducing individual configuration work.
Milestone also announced a mapping feature for future Smart Client releases. It will combine camera locations, alarms, connected devices and live video in geographic and floor plan views. Operators will be able to select nearby cameras and open live video from the map.
Arcules’ Cloud Backup for Edge Gateways stores a lower-resolution secondary video stream offsite. An integration with Triton Sensors combines environmental and occupancy data with video, allowing users to create alarms, rules and video-linked sensor events.
Additional Arcules changes include automatic HTTPS encryption between gateways and supported cameras, enhancements to local video streaming and playback, improved diagnostics and alarm access controls for hybrid systems.
Browser-based monitoring of multiple XProtect installations is available through XProtect Remote Manager under Care Plus.
