Secura Key’s new white paper on its NOVA.16 access control panel, “Secura Key’s NOVA.16—Something New for Small Systems,” explains the new system architecture and how it lowers installation, hardware and expansion costs, and also explaining the technology behind the product. The white paper describes the new system configuration, the more efficient distribution of processing power, how the product was developed, and why RS485 communications were selected over other alternatives. It also details backward compatibility and retrofit scenarios. These white papers are useful to systems integrators, OEMs, and Application Developers in both the Security and RFID channels. Secura Key now offers updated sample architects and engineers specifications for its SK-NET Software and two new access control panels: the SK-ACPE-LE, an upgraded version of the SK-ACP 2-door panel; and the NOVA.16, a new 16-door access control panel. These specifications are available on the Secura Key website in MS Word document format, allowing users to them cut and paste them into the standard AIA specification template. Architects and engineers specifications make it easier for consultants and system integrators, to create and/or respond to complex bid specifications and RFQ’s, saving the time required to reformat information from product data sheets.

LILIN North America now offers a compact, high-speed pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) IP dome camera featuring a long-range 20x optical zoom lens (4.7 to 94 mm) and 12x digital zoom. When combined with a 3-megapixel CMOS image sensor, this zooming capability empowers the LILIN IPS4204S camera to capture crisp, clear HDTV-quality 360-degree surveillance video of large outdoor areas, such as parking lots or school yards, or to focus on small targets in extreme high detail, for example, a subject's facial features or a license plate. ComNet’s NetWave NW8 wireless Ethernet link is designed to support redundant ring and “drop-and-insert” functionality on a wireless network. The NW8 is a dual radio version of the recently introduced NW series of environmentally hardened wireless Ethernet products. ComNet positions this product as a solution for large-scale perimeter protection for facilities such as airports, border patrol and other large facilities where a wired infrastructure is cost-prohibitive. The NW8 models feature dual gigabit Ethernet ports that support up to two IP connections and allow for multiple IP cameras to be aggregated onto the wireless network. The NW8 also supports optional IEEE802.3at PSE (Power Sourcing Equipment) for powering PoE connected devices, such as IP PoE cameras and simplifying installation.

The number of agile working organizations is increasing rapidly and so is the question for secure storage for peoples’ personal belongings. In response to this, Nedap has integrated Locker Management into the 3.1.1 release of its AEOS Security Management Platform. Employees, visitors and contractors can now use their access cards to access lockers, filing cabinets, laptop lockers or post boxes. The straightforward user interface increases the usability of the system and it reduces the risk that user errors occur.
