Mosaic Global Solutions Introduces Intelligent Video Management System

Mosaic Global Solutions, LLC, a provider of enterprise IP security products and solutions, has just released the Mosaic Intelligent Video Management System (IVMS). This is no ordinary enterprise-class network video recording (NVR) solution: The IVMS platform is designed to make the job of video-oriented surveillance dramatically more efficient and effective.

The IVMS platform takes advantage of IP/Network video surveillance and uses existing network infrastructure. Wireless video is easily incorporated, and the IVMS platform offers multiple ways to integrate legacy analog video. What's more, the IVMS uses conventional server hardware and employs an industry-standard database management system on a highly secured Linux operating system.

But the Mosaic IVMS really excels in its unique core architecture and comprehensive surveillance tools. The system is engineered around an extensive SQL database structure for storing and managing all aspects of surveillance. Operators can evaluate the status of alarm conditions, including a facility map with active camera and sensor icons, instant replay video clips, real-time graphical display of object tracking, and the ability to create and store comments with recorded video -- all from a single workstation.

IVMS offers video motion detection capabilities unheard of in conventional systems, applying sophisticated machine vision algorithms to video motion detection, beginning with defining the normal background image as well as images that are expected to change. The system then segments and separates objects passing through the scene; if they meet user-defined parameters, objects will be considered targets to initiate recording.

The Mosaic IVMS also redefines video surveillance analysis. The system scrutinizes object movements and matches them with predefined and user-defined behaviors. Zones can be defined within a video image, and objects can be tracked in relationship to those zones to monitor for intrusion detection. IVMS even includes facial detection and recognition, license plate recognition/OCR, and vehicle and people counting.

The system continuously monitors and records various attributes of the video as it is acquired; those measurements can be used to schedule camera maintenance. IVMS can also determine whether the camera view has changed due to negligence, malicious tampering or a change in the environment.

IVMS is equally adept at event management. The system generates notifications for a variety of system events. Users can program automatic event responses into the system.

"IVMS defines a new standard in active video surveillance," stated Al Mandia, Mosaic vice-president of business development and sales. "We believe the IVMS platform provides a considerable number of functionality and usability advantages over the competition."
