ACT Center Network Implements Biometric System

BIO-key International recently announced the ACT Center network is implementing BIO-key's fingerprint biometrics technology to ensure testing integrity and prevent identity misrepresentation.

The ACT Center network is the professional testing network created by ACT, the educational and professional assessment company known for its college admissions exam. The ACT Center network delivers computer-based professional certification and licensure exams at nearly 240 sites nationwide.

Consistent with ACT's mission to help people achieve success in education and at the workplace, BIO-key's biometric identity software will be used to protect the integrity of the testing process by positively identifying individuals entering to take a test, and ensuring that identity misrepresentation will not thwart the credentialing process.

BIO-key's fingerprint biometric identification technology will benefit ACT's customers by delivering a more convenient and secure method to establish their identity and providing them with protection against identity misrepresentation.

"Our accuracy and large-scale indexing gives ACT the ability to automate the process of detecting duplicate enrollments across large populations," said Mike DePasquale, BIO-key's CEO. "By choosing our WEB-key solution, ACT has the tools to expand their application to include an external-facing Web-based identification. For example, they can easily expand the system to allow applicants to use integrated fingerprint scanners in laptops to confirm their identity when accessing their test results online."
