ADT, Oklahoma Association Work Together To Improve School Security

ADT Security Services announced recently it has reached an agreement with the Oklahoma State School Boards Association (OSSBA) to work together to create and deliver workshops and other information vehicles aimed at helping the OSSBA’s 569 current and prospective member school districts further secure their campuses.

The agreement calls for ADT to assist in the creation of two school safety workshops annually, provide security-related brochures and contribute articles for the bi-monthly publication, OSSBA Today. Additionally, ADT will provide free risk assessments to all OSSBA member schools and help identify grants and other funding sources for proposed security solutions.

Patrick Fiel, public safety advisor for ADT, said the partnership provides both parties with significant benefits.

“OSSBA members have an opportunity to learn about the best practices for campus security which ADT has developed while helping to protect more than 15,000 K-12 campuses across the country,” he said.

In addition to working with K-12 schools, ADT helps to protect more than 1,300 college and university campuses.

According to Dr. Keith Ballard, OSSBA executive director, the response from the membership to the arrangement with ADT has been very positive.

“This is a natural fit for us,” he said. “Our members are not always familiar with the various security solutions that are available for schools. ADT has shown itself to be very helpful and service oriented in working with us to better understand how best to protect our campuses.”
