State Selects Datacard Group for Drivers' License Solution

Datacard Group recently announced that L-1 Identity Solutions has selected the Datacard® SP75 Plus card printer for use in the Illinois, statewide driver's license programs. L-1 chose the SP75 Plus printer because of its reliability, ease-of-use, throughput and speed, form factor and security features.

"Datacard Group has clear and focused attention on the US driver's license market," said Fred Ketcho, regional vice president of Americas sales and service for Datacard Group. "We've delivered a card personalizing solution that is not only extremely easy to install and operate, but meets many of the security requirements defined by the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA). "Federal mandates are influencing new security requirements for drivers' licenses and IDs, and the Datacard product map is well positioned to meet these requirements."

The Datacard SP75 Plus card printer is a high-quality, lightweight, dye-sublimation printer that provides in-line, dual-sided printing and laminating. Enhanced performance and improved card quality comes from Datacard® Certified Supplies featuring Intelligent Supplies Technology™, which includes ribbons and laminates that contain radio frequency identification (RFID) technology.

This flexible RFID technology used by the printer (but not contained in the produced cards) works with many laminates including the Datacard® DuraGard® Optigram® laminates, which offer state governments unique security features that meet Level One, Two and Three inspection requirements, help provide tamper evidence and assist in the detection of fraudulent documents.

In addition to delivering a card personalizing solution, Datacard had the flexibility to meet customer service and support requirements, including helping state officials implement "train the trainer" strategies for maintenance, help desk and operator training. Datacard Group offers the world's best-selling secure ID and card personalization solutions. The company's portfolio includes systems for high-volume card issuance, card delivery and fulfillment, secure ID issuance and passport production, plus extensive service and supply offerings. Datacard Group serves customers in more than 120 countries.
