Delta Scientific Announces More Than 400 Deployments Of DSC2000 Barricades

Delta Scientific, a manufacturer of counter-terrorist vehicle control systems used in the United States and internationally, recently announced that it has sold systems deploying more than 400 DSC2000 shallow foundation barricades to customers throughout the world. The barricade has been especially popular at embassies and military bases.

“The DSC2000 is one of our more popular products because, due to its shallow foundation, the arrays can be quickly set up to protect an entrance,” said Delta Scientific senior vice president David Dickinson. “The DSC2000 is very easy to transport, quick to install and highly reliable. Its incredibly fast operating speed of only 0.38 seconds and K12 crash rating make it extremely popular in high threat applications, a major reason for it attractiveness at embassies and military bases.”

Set in a foundation only 10 inches (25 cm) deep versus the standard 18 inches (46 cm) on most shallow foundation barriers, the Delta DSC2000 is designed for heavy use of more than 100,000 cycles per month, providing increased security for high capacity locations. Multiple deployment configurations make the DSC2000 valuable in a wide variety of applications, from wide roadways to narrow driveways.

With its extremely shallow foundation and aesthetic design, it obviates the concerns of interference with buried pipes, power lines and fiber optic communication lines. The shallow foundation also reduces installation complexity, time, materials and corresponding costs. The DSC2000 is perfect for high water table locations and areas with corrosive soils.

Weighing only 1,100 pounds (500 kg), the DSC2000 barricade is designed for remote locations and developing country installations and engineered to fit in a small shipping package, including air cargo containers. The complete barricade system, including the hydraulic power unit, control circuits and controls, all fit on two standard-sized pallets that can easily by moved by a lightweight yard fork lift or pallet jack.

One unit can even be carried in the back of a pick-up truck. The barricade can then be manhandled into place and installed without the use of power equipment. This barricade can even be set up and serviced without needing to remove the top plate.

In the lowered position, the DSC 2000’s barrier ramp is completely flush with the roadway. Buttresses, counterweights and road plates do not obstruct authorized pedestrian or vehicular traffic. The DSC2000 is raised and lowered to and from the guard position via hydraulic cylinders driven by Delta’s patented hydraulic power unit or manually.

The DSC2000 high speed, high security, shallow foundation barricade has also been tested in the United Kingdom to stop a 7,500 kg (16,500 pound) 2-axle European truck traveling 80 kph (50 mph), meeting the BSI standard PAS:68 2007.
