AlertSense Protects University of Illinois' Campus and County

MyStateUSA deployed AlertSense, a global notification system, to be used at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and the County of Champaign, Illinois. The deployment will serve both the campus population of the university and the civilian populations and responders of the school's resident county through a common operating platform. It also allows messaging to a broad array of cell phone types, e-mail systems, landlines and hand-held devices, and interoperates with sirens, signage, beacons and other infrastructure systems using the Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) standard.

"The new system from MyStateUSA features fast delivery times, easy registration, and greater integrity in times of crisis because it is hosted off campus," notes Todd Short, director of Emergency Planning, Division of Public Safety, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

AlertSense Campus simplifies the system’s ongoing maintenance and management, integrating with all campus directories to ensure that the system remains automatically updated.

AlertSense is recognized for successful emergency management and Homeland Security deployments, and provides:

  • Interoperable, scalable and easily usable knowledge-sharing and inter-agency collaboration capabilities
  • An economical cost-effective Software-as-a-Service architecture
  • Tier 1 data centers allowing carrier class reliability
  • Extreme customization

Don Barrett, vice president of operations at MyStateUSA, noted: “We are honored to provide groundbreaking, readily customizable solutions to help safeguard students, faculty and citizenry today and as needs evolve.”
