HID Global Creates Position To Address Simplifying IT Security For Mobile Workforce

HID Global recently announced that it has created a new position to proactively work with Dell to address simplifying IT security for the mobile workforce. Both HID and Dell recognize that the use of the physical access control card is converging with other applications, including providing secure access to the PC and IT network. To support growing interest in this area, HID Global has named Kami Schiller as director of strategic accounts, HID Connect, reporting to Debra Spitler, vice president of HID Connect.

In collaboration with Dell, HID has taken a leading role in addressing the convergence of physical and logical access control. As a first step, select Dell Latitude E-Family laptopsare equipped with an embedded contactless smart card reader that reads/writes to HID iCLASS cardsand other ISO-compliant 13.56 MHz contactless smart cards. The addition of Schiller to the team ensures a proactive approach to helping customers use their existing HID card to enter the building and implement secure authentication to the PC, as well as protecting stored data in the event the PC is lost or stolen.

With more than 15 years of experience in the security and PC industries, Schiller has a diverse background in management, sales and marketing. In her new role, she will oversee HID’s strategic collaboration with Dell. Additionally, Kami will develop and implement business and marketing plans to leverage HID on the Desktop and its integration with the embedded contactless smart card reader in select Dell Latitude E-Family laptops.

“I am thrilled to be a part of the HID team,” Schiller said. “My background in both the security and PC industries will ensure a well-rounded approach to helping HID and Dell to deliver a wide variety of solutions to meet end-user requirements for enhanced security at the desktop.”

Schiller joins HID from Dell, where she recently held the position of account executive for corporate accounts. Prior to her 4 1/2-year career with Dell, Schiller worked in various marketing and management positions within the security industry, including vice president of marketing for Samsung CCTV, and director of global marketing for Ultrak Inc. Schiller graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and Public Address.
