Silent Knight Launches Educational Fire Alarm Luncheons

Silent Knight by Honeywell recently announced the kick-off of a new series of one-on-one Lunch-N-Learns geared to the fire alarm educational needs of specification writers and electrical contractors. In cooperation with its engineered systems distributors throughout the U.S., local Silent Knight representatives offer attendees their choice of fire alarm and life safety topics including system design, codes, hands-on training and even new technology demonstrations.

Launched on the heels of Silent Knight's recent release of its IFP-2000 networkable, scalable fire alarm system, this new Lunch-N-Learn series has already gained traction with many contractors and engineers. According to George Manolakis of Integrated Systems Services, an authorized Silent Knight distributor in East Hartford, Conn., current market conditions have not declined the need for new information.

"We hosted our first Lunch-N-Learn this year and, from the response we received from local engineers, we want to do at least one per quarter," Manolakis said. "We're getting call-backs from attendees with questions and even seeing our products being specified more."

At each group's request, Silent Knight Lunch-N-Learns can take place at the location of their choosing. Content is tailored to the specific needs of each participant with hands-on demonstrations of the new IFP-2000 system and educational support materials readily available.

Targeted at medium to large size applications, the IFP-2000 is gaining popularity due to its ease of maintenance and cost-effective retrofit features. The system can be installed using existing fire alarm wiring and with the addition of a simple SLC loop expander card, the point capacity can be increased to 636 points per panel. As many as eight IFP-2000 fire alarm control panels can be networked to emulate one large virtual system or segmented into separate systems for multiple building applications. All IFP-2000 systems are UL 864 9th Edition Listed and FM Approved.
