New Jersey Performing Arts Center Upgrades To Hybrid Surveillance System

North American Video (NAV) announced recently it has been awarded the contract to upgrade the video surveillance system at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC).

The new system will include a hybrid video solution that will allow NJPAC to leverage its existing infrastructure while upgrading to newer and more advanced recording and imaging technology.

“We are excited about this opportunity to offer our experience and services to help NJPAC achieve their goal of improving the performance and reliability of the video surveillance system,” said Jason Oakley, CEO of North American Video. “The hybrid solution will help to reduce costs for the upgrade but still allow for future expansion and technology upgrades.”

Situated on a 12-acre site on the Newark riverfront, the 250,000 square foot NJPAC is the country’s sixth largest performing arts venue. Opened in 1997, the center was a key project in the city’s revitalization initiative and has since successfully served as a model for programming, audience diversity and educational opportunities.

With the help of a Department of Homeland Security grant through the county, the center is able to facilitate the video surveillance upgrade, which will be a turnkey project entirely designed and managed by NAV.

The center’s existing analog PTZ cameras will be replaced with an integrated system utilizing IP cameras as well as a head-end recording and software management solution, including a common GUI. Using the existing fiber infrastructure, NAV will also implement a complete security network that will allow high quality live viewing and recording, with full camera control.

“Our approach to delivering best in class security and surveillance solutions includes deploying the right technology, using top notch people and paying attention to the details,” Oakley said. “This approach has helped us to earn our customers for the long term -- we are delighted to count NJPAC as an NAV customer.”
