Night Vision Provider Vumii Acquired By Opgal

Vumii recently announced the acquisition of Vumii assets and select liabilities by Opgal of Karmi’el, Israel.

Through this strategic move, Opgal will add Vumii’s unique laser and LED long-range day/night vision technology hardware (Discoverii and Claritii) and situation management software (Sensorii) to its portfolio of electro-optic products.

Opgal will obtain a strong global brand, an experienced US management team, and a leverageable business entity for its U.S. sales and support activities.

Vumii will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Opgal under the same Vumii management team.

“I am thrilled with this outcome and excited to join an organization with a history of more than 25 years developing and producing high quality, specialized imaging products” said Vumii CEO and co-founder, Randall Foster. “Given the world-wide demand for ever-increasing advanced security products, adding Vumii to Opgal provides tremendous growth resources and experience. Our customers and business partners will greatly benefit from this acquisition” continued Foster.

Opgal plans to leverage Vumii’s customer base and core technology products. Opgal will grow the U.S. marketing, sales, and support organization, enabling more customers to benefit from Vumii products.

Opgal also expects to expand its thermal IR business in the U.S. and beyond by adding Vumii’s existing resources and relationships.

“We have looked for the best acquisition candidate for a long time,” said Dror Sharon, Opgal’s president and CEO. “Vumii is a natural fit for our business since it both enhances our long-term electro-optic product portfolio with unique technologies and it enables us to quickly increase our U.S. presence for expanding sales and customers” added Sharon. The combined entity will focus on the security market by delivering a full range of detection, recognition, and identification imaging products with uses across multiple industries, including transportation, critical infrastructure and government.
