Axis Launches Network Video Certification Program

Axis Communications recently announced the Axis Certification Program to help people and companies demonstrate their competence and skills in the area of IP video surveillance. Axis is offering the certification program through external, third-party certification test centers managed by Prometric, a global provider of testing and assessment services.

“The growth in demand for network video has stimulated a great deal of interest from security professionals who want to learn more about the latest trends in IP surveillance,” said Bill Murtagh, senior vice president of client services with Prometric. “We look forward to working with Axis to deliver exam programs that offer the very highest knowledge standards in this dynamic and growing marketplace.”

To become certified, individuals need to pass an advanced test that proves they are well-versed in the latest network video technologies, solutions, products and best-practice techniques. The certification program is appropriate for anyone wishing to validate and demonstrate their practical knowledge and skills in network video surveillance.

The certification works to promote individuals and the companies they work for, reinforcing the participant’s status as an Axis Certified Professional. Once certified, participants will also earn Axis’ global stamp of endorsement that strengthens both their personal and their company’s credentials.

“This move demonstrates Axis’ commitment to training and high standards, as well as endorses our position as the global market leader in the network video market,” said Lars Åberg, vice president marketing, Axis Communications.

“We’ve made great strides through our Academy programs, PR and marketing efforts, and day-to-day conversations to educate the entire security industry on the benefits and uses of network video,” said Fredrik Nilsson, general manager, Axis Communications. “As the scales tip from analog to IP technology, the Axis Certified Professional stamp will be a sought after designation that proves you have the know-how to install and maintain a proper network surveillance system.”

Axis Communications’ Academy offers a variety of classroom and Web-based trainings, along with tutorials and guides to help individuals prepare for the exam.

The certification program will be available in the U.S. starting in January for $150.

The security industry spans the entire globe, with manufacturers, developers and suppliers on every continent (well, almost—sorry, Antarctica). Recent data privacy regulations like GDPR in Europe and CPRA in California made waves when they first went into effect, forcing businesses to change the way they approach data collection and storage to continue operating in those markets. Even highly specific regulations like the U.S.’s National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) can have international reverberations – and this growing volume of legislation has continued to affect global supply chains in a variety of different ways.
